Microsoft Updates PHP Driver for SQL Server

Following the change of the company to openness and interoperability, Microsoft yesterday released an updated PHP STI flagship relational database management system (RDBMS), SQL Server driver.

The new driver supports PHP 5.6 and easier to work with the Open Database Connectivity (ODBC) interface, described by Wikipedia as "a programming language standard middleware API to access management systems databases."

"This WHO controller allows developers to use the PHP scripting language to access Microsoft SQL Server database and Microsoft SQL Azure, and take advantage of new features implemented in ODBC," Microsoft said in a blog. "The new version works with Microsoft ODBC driver 11 or higher."

In January 2013 introduced the new Microsoft ODBC Driver for SQL Server in version 11 "The adoption of Microsoft ODBC is the de facto standard for native access to SQL Server and Windows based SQL Azure data," said the company in the moment. "We have long supported for ODBC in Windows does and, at the time of SQL Server 2012, launched support for ODBC in Linux (Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5 and 6, and SUSE Enterprise Linux)."

Key new features provided in connection Windows version of the pooling-conscious driver, resilient connection and executing asynchronous (polling).
